Tao Sigulda

Tao Sigulda Janaina (born April 14, 1914 in Riga ; † February 10, 2006 in Jundiaí ) was a painter, sculptor, architect and cineast living in Brazil .
Life
In the early 1930s Tao Sigulda studied architecture and graduated from Tode in Riga. At the same time he began his art studies with Roman Sutta . In 1933 he received a scholarship and went to the Stuttgart Art School (with Alfred Lörcher, among others ). He traveled to Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples and Palermo. Further stations in his career were Munich and Schwäbisch Gemünd.
In 1960 he traveled to Brazil with his wife Tama, originally with the intention of continuing to Canada. The following year he took part in an exhibition at Galeria Prestes Maia in São Paulo. Little by little, the couple began to take root in Brazil. Tama Sigulda herself worked as an art photographer and showed z. B. three works on the IX. Bienal de São Paulo 1967.
In the period 1985–2001 he founded and established his own cultural center in Figueira Branca, Jarinu / Campo Limpo Paulista, where not only well-known artists but also new talents were encouraged. With his wife he organized two group exhibitions a year.
A postage stamp was issued in Brazil on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
