Museo de Juguetes y Autómatas
The Museo de Juguetes y Autómatas ( Catalan Museu de Joguets i Autòmats ) is a toy and machine museum in the municipality of Verdú in Catalonia in the province of Lleida .
The museum was inaugurated in December 2004 and is based on the support of the Verdú-born art collector Manel Mayoral (* 1944), who runs an art gallery in Barcelona.
The museum building is located in an imposing historic mansion with a patio on the Plaza Mayor . Over three floors, on an area of over 2700 square meters, over 1000 items such as rides , slot machines , tin toys , pedal cars , robots , games, scooters, bicycles, dolls, posters and historical documents are exhibited.
At the end of 2013 the museum was closed for renovation work to a. To create space for contemporary art exhibitions. In July 2014 it reopened with an exhibition of works by great Spanish artists such as Miro, Picasso, Dalí, Chillida, Tàpies, Plensa, Barceló and Calder.
