Bederkesa Castle Museum
The Museum Burg Bederkesa is an archaeological and cultural-historical museum in Bad Bederkesa in the district of Cuxhaven , Germany . It was set up in 1982 in the newly restored Bederkesa Castle and shows rich finds from more than 10,000 sites in the district of Cuxhaven from the 4th millennium BC. BC to modern times . The museum is supported by the Archaeological Monument Preservation of the Cuxhaven district. It is funded by Burggesellschaft Bederkesa eV and various institutions in the district.
The exceptionally well- preserved wood finds from the Wurtensiedlung Feddersen-Wierde from the 1st to 5th centuries are particularly impressive . Other exhibits come from the Flögel settlement chamber since the Neolithic Age and the Old Saxon cemetery on the Fallward of the 4th and 5th centuries. Their most outstanding find is the throne from the march , an almost completely preserved log chair. Other highlights of the exhibition include well-preserved early medieval wooden furniture, wooden tableware and a ship's burial. The museum maintains several hiking trails, so-called monument trails, to archaeological sites and ground monuments in the district of Cuxhaven.
