Museum Campus Chicago

history
The Museum Campus was created in 1998 with the aim of making the culturally rich area around the three museums pedestrian-friendly. For this purpose, the Lake Shore Drive freeway along Lake Michigan , which previously divided the area, was diverted and is now west of Soldier Field . Today the campus is characterized by numerous green areas as well as pedestrian paths and jogging routes. Solidarity Drive is particularly picturesque ; part of the path consists of a narrow isthmus . There are also bronze monuments of the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus , the Polish general Tadeusz Kościuszko and the Czech writer Karel Havlíček Borovský along the way .
