The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum in Chicago , Illinois is one of the city's biggest attractions. Built in 1930 thanks to the support of the entrepreneur Max Adler , it is one of the oldest planetariums in North America. It's right on Lake Michigan , right behind the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History . Since February 27, 1987, the Adler Planetarium has been listed as a monument on the National Register of Historic Places and has the status of a National Historic Landmark .
It shows numerous exhibits on the subject of space, the planetary system and their historical and current exploration on several levels. The collection of historical instruments is world famous. In addition, it has two theaters for astronomical presentations, one with a Zeiss projector and one with a modern digital laser show, which enables flight simulations in particular. Both systems complement each other perfectly.
