The Museum of Women's Culture Regional - International is the first women's museum in Bavaria . It is housed in the stables of the Burgfarrnbacher Schloss in Fürth .

In cooperation with the city of Fürth, the museum started as a “Mobile Museum” (2003-2005), from 2006 it was able to continue as a museum with a permanent location in the baroque stables of Burgfarrnbach Castle . The museum is a project of the association “Women in One World - Center for Intercultural Women’s Everyday Research and International Exchange e. V. “(FidEW). The association was founded in Nuremberg in 1989 .

In 2014 the museum received the city of Nuremberg's women's advancement award.

concept

The museum gives women a voice and illuminates life stories, women's cultures and everyday life from different perspectives. In doing so, visitors discover the similarities between living environments that seem to be very far apart. Objects from the region and many countries around the world make up the museum's collection. An accompanying program of lectures, panel discussions, films and workshops is offered for each exhibition, as well as catalogs and publications that incorporate the results of historical, sociological and ethnological research. Two-day “talks in the museum” give women scientists the space to present and discuss current research results.

Exhibitions

The exhibitions of "Women in One World eV" are designed as traveling exhibitions on various topics. Without running their own museum, the women of the association created exhibitions from 1989 to 2003 and shown them at different locations throughout Germany and Europe. Some of the exhibitions shown in the museum date from this period, as do the accompanying catalogs. In the case of exhibitions shown at several locations, the year of the exhibition in the museum is indicated.
