The Stamparia Museum ( German Book Printing Museum ) is a museum in Strada in the Engadine . It is included in the list of cultural assets of national importance in the canton of Graubünden .

history

In 1680 Nuot Clà Janett founded a printing company in Tschlin . He later moved this down into the valley to Strada, where it existed until 1880. Significant Romanesque literature was printed in the Stamparia . The house was the home of the printer families and the seat of the printing works. When the last resident of the Scharplatz printer family died in 1987 , the building and its inventory were transferred to a foundation that runs the museum.

Exhibits

The museum exhibits originals of the first translations of the Bible into the idioms Vallader (1679) and Sursilvan (1718), printing equipment from all epochs and song books of traditional Romanesque folk music as well as associated instruments.
