The Museum Tauernbahn is a railway museum in Schwarzach im Pongau in Austria and was built in 2001 according to the plans of the Austrian architect Adolf Krischanitz .

General

The museum was officially opened in 2005 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Tauern Railway, making it the oldest railway museum in the State of Salzburg . The museum consists of a new building, the remise of the train station, renovated by the museum association, and the outdoor area with interesting exhibits. Since 2009 there has been a permanent exhibition on the ground floor of the building entitled “The Tauern Railway - The (z) long way to Trieste”. On the first floor you can see a model railway system with faithful replicas of the Tauern Railway. The museum also has restored exhibits such as an electric locomotive of the ÖBB class 1245 .
