The Forest and Environment Museum , located on the so-called Ludwigshöhe on the edge of the Ebersberger Forest , is a natural history educational institution of the city of Ebersberg .

History and permanent exhibition

The permanent exhibition deals with historical and ecological aspects of forest use on an area of ​​around 300 m². Part of the museum building is the residential part of the "hunter Häusls" a Einfirsthofes originally in the neighboring community of Kirchseeon from 1740, which here translocated was. The museum owns a wooden library owned by the Benedictine monk Candid Huber, who was born here . The environmental station attached to the museum fulfills an educational mandate. In the outdoor area, themed trails have been laid out that teach about biological diversity. The museum work is supported by a sponsorship group established in 2006.

300 meters away is the 35 meter high Ebersberg observation tower.

On the evening of December 18, 2019, a fire broke out and severely damaged part of the museum building. Both in the listed old building and in the new building, the roof structure was completely destroyed. The exhibits could still be brought to safety in good time.
