Wetzikon Museum
The Wetzikon Museum is a Zurich memory institution with a public mandate to collect cultural heritage . It is located in the center of Wetzikon , Canton Zurich , in a historic building from 1758 and makes the history of Wetzikon tangible.
The collection was founded in 1891 by the antiquarian company Wetzikon and has been continuously expanded since then. Many archaeological objects came into the collection through the pile dwelling researcher Jakob Messikommer , who researched for decades in the Robenhausen Ried . Stone axes, spun linen threads and botanical remains provide an insight into the life of the wetland settlements on the south bank of the Pfäffikersee .
The Roman estate of Wetzikon-Kempten is well documented by numerous small finds and architectural evidence such as columns, frescoes and floor heating. Objects from workers 'households or manufacturers' mansions can be found up to the present day. Thematic changing exhibitions and a small library complete the offer.
