The Museum of Folk Architecture and Life in the Transcarpathian Mountains ( Ukrainian Музей народної архітектури та побуту Прикарпаття ) is an open-air museum of folk architecture of the Forest Carpathians in the Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod .
The museum
The museum extends over 5.5 hectares, was founded in 1965 and has been open to visitors since June 1970. He owns 30 historical buildings from the Zakarpattia Oblast . The museum shows examples of villages of the different ethnic groups from the lowlands (Dolynjan, Romanians , Hungarians ) and the highlands ( Bojken and Hutsulen ). The museum has seven estates, six residential buildings, a school, a forge, a mill, an inn and more than 14,000 objects. The center of the museum is St. Michael's Church from the 16th century with its onion roofs and onion dome.
The former Uzhgorod Castle is located near the museum.
