The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) is a technical and science museum in Tampa , Florida . It is the largest of its kind in the southeastern United States . The MOSI is operated as a non-profit association .

history

The forerunner of today's MOSI was a museum in Sulfur Springs originally founded by Hillsborough County in 1962 as a youth museum . The museum changed its name several times. In 1982 it opened in its current location on Fowler Avenue.

In 1992, the Saunders Planetarium opened its doors as the only planetarium in Tampa. In 1995, the only IMAX Dome cinema in Florida opened at MOSI . In 2005, Kids in Charge! Founded the largest children's science exhibition in the United States .
