The Museum of Kerma is an archaeological museum in northern Sudan in the state of Ash-Shamaliyya . It is located on the site of the ancient city of Kerma in the immediate vicinity of western Deffufa. The building of the museum is built in the style of the traditional Nubian vault construction.
The museum collection
The museum displays finds and ceramics from the main periods of the kingdom of Kush : C-group culture, kingdoms of Kerma , Napata and Meroe .
The showpiece of the Kerma Museum are seven black granite statues that were found in 2003 by Charles Bonnet's archaeological team in a grave at the nearby Dukki Gel archaeological site. Purposely broken in their time, but in excellent condition, the fully assembled statues are placed in the central room of the museum. The seven statues represent the so-called Nubian black pharaohs of the 25th dynasty of Egypt: Taharqa , Tanwetamani , Senkamanisken , Anlamani and Aspelta .
