The museum railway Campinas-Jaguariúna ( Portuguese Viação Férrea Campinas-Jaguariúna , VFCJ) runs in Brazil from the Anhumas train station in Campinas to Jaguariúna, 22.8 km away . The train is powered by authentic steam locomotives that come from several Brazilian railways.

history

The Campinas – Jaguariúna route was originally a section of the Linha Tronco (Companhia Mogiana de Estradas de Ferro), which was taken over in the early 1970s by Ferrovia Paulista SA (FEPASA). It turned out to be suitable for restoration and tourist use and began operating the museum railroad in 1981.

From 1981 to 1985, the Brazilian Association of Railway Conservation maintained operations on the Campinas – Jaguariúna line. Nevertheless, the then city administration expropriated the association with regard to the area around the station and dismantled the tracks and the bridge, which meant that the association had to build a small station on the other side of the river, which bears the name of the old station Jaguariúna. In 2006, the Jaguariúna Municipality committed to building the 1200-meter-long extension of the existing small train station so that the old Jaguariúna train station regained its original function. The work cost 1.5 million Brazilian reals and was inaugurated in October 2006. Once the work is complete, steam locomotives can now reach the station and return in the other direction thanks to a turntable installed at the end of the line on the west side of the station.
