Audio on demand

Audio-on-Demand ( AoD , German Audio on Demand ) describes the possibility of downloading digital audio material on request from an Internet provider or service, or of listening to it directly via an audio stream with suitable software .

Examples of AoD can be found on a large number of websites, where they are partly free (e.g. on the websites of broadcasters ) or for a fee (e.g. Apple iTunes Music Store (iTMS), Musicload.de or in the form of a podcast ) Tobe offered. Providers such as Napster , spotify or simfy enable users to access and listen to millions of titles for a monthly fee. Another form of AoD are the (mostly illegal) file sharing networks on the Internet, on which users can exchange audio files with one another (via file sharing and P2P systems).
