Music Unlimited , formerly Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity , was a music streaming service provided by Sony and operated by Omnifone.

The service was part of Sony Entertainment Network ( Sony Music ) and expanded into Europe in late 2010. As of January 2012, the service had over a million active users and over 15 million songs. With the launch of the PlayStation 4 , the service had over 22 million songs ready.

With the dissolution of Music Unlimited, the PlayStation Music service , which was created in partnership with Spotify in early 2015, was made available, and Music Unlimited was subsequently replaced with the new service on March 29, 2015. All users whose account was still active on March 29, 2015 received a two-month trial access to Spotify Premium.

history

The music service "Music Unlimited" started in December 2010 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. At the beginning of January 2011, the service also started in the USA and then at the end of January 2011 in Germany, France, Italy and Spain. In Australia and New Zealand, the service appeared a month later.

Worldwide, the service failed in April 2011 with the failure of the Playstation Network and could no longer be used - however, the service was available again in mid-May.

On May 16, 2011, an Android app was made available for the service to download free of charge.

In May 2013, the service expanded to Brazil and now supports 19 countries.

resolution

On January 28, 2015, Sony announced that with the closure of Music Unlimited on March 29, 2015, Spotify would form the basis for their new music service called Playstation Music .
