Musical sleigh ride

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Musical Sleigh Ride is a divertimento in F major , composed by Leopold Mozart and premiered in Augsburg in January 1756 .

The father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an enthusiastic friend of the carnival fun all his life , for which he often traveled from Salzburg to Munich.

The original manuscript was only rediscovered in the 1950s; previously only a few printed piano arrangements from the Biedermeier period were known. In addition to a rich orchestra, five coordinated sled bells and 2 people with courrier whips are required for the performance .

A printed, 12-point Avertissement was issued for the premiere of the joke symphonies Peasant Wedding and Musical Sleigh Ride in the Gasthaus To the Three Kings in Augsburg, fourteen days before Wolfgang's birth by the Musikübende Gesellschaft .
