Wilhelm Bergien

Friedrich Wilhelm Bergien (born July 14, 1916 in Michelau , Strasburg district ; † May 2, 1989 in Lüneburg ) was a German officer, most recently in the rank of Brigadier General of the Bundeswehr .

Career

Wilhelm Bergien joined the Wehrmacht in April 1936 and pursued a career as an officer. After the usual promotions, he was last promoted to major in the Wehrmacht on July 1, 1944 .

After the formation of the Bundeswehr, he joined them and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on January 16, 1958 with effect from November 1, 1957, and to brigadier general with effect from April 1, 1968 . In his last assignment, he was in command of Artillery Command 3 from April 1, 1968 to the end of September 1973, and was then retired.
