Music show of the nations

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Music Show of the Nations was an annual international festival of military music in Bremen (Northern Germany). It was supported by the Bundeswehr and took place from 1965 to 2017.

The music show of the nations was one of the largest brass music events in a hall in Europe. The music show was founded and organized by the Bremen regional association of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge eV The music show was discontinued with the 53rd edition in 2017. The number of viewers had dropped rapidly for years, the earlier fourth day of the event (Thursday) had already been canceled.

Military orchestras from various armed forces performed, and the Bundeswehr was represented at every event. However, there was no competition, just a concert . Sometimes orchestras also played together.

Originally the event ran as a "military music show". In 1968 the name was changed to "Music Show of Nations". Due to the large number of viewers, the program runs over several days. There were a total of around 270 events in which 380 bands and orchestras from over 70 nations with over 24,800 participants took part. Choirs, dance and folklore groups also performed. According to the organizer, 1.7 million viewers attended the music show of the nations. Up until 2010, one event was recorded annually by German television and broadcast on television.

The music show took place in the Stadthalle Bremen (official names: 1964–2004: Stadthalle Bremen , 2005–2009: AWD-Dome , 2009–2011: Bremen-Arena . Since 2011: ÖVB-Arena ). The proceeds from entrance fees, television broadcasting licenses and DVD sales went to the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge . The name Musikschau der Nations is a protected term.

Since 2018 there has been a follow-up event in the ÖVB-Arena under the name "Bremen Tattoo".
