Within this thesis, dealing with the basics of the individual areas and the cross-connections between them represent important focal points. Through issues that are acute in the various areas and which bring the participants and employees of the events into conversation, the contents and working methods are in one ongoing development. In addition, educational conferences are held to provide practical and theoretical clarification of these questions.

history

After the Second World War, friends of the Musikheim Frankfurt (Oder) , whose director Georg Götsch had been until 1942, got together in West Germany . After it became clear very quickly that the arts semester in Frankfurt Oder could not be continued, the name was changed to Musische Gesellschaft. Georg Götsch continued the musical education work with various employees at different locations (e.g. youth home ). As early as 1952, the Musische Gesellschaft found a permanent seat at Fürsteneck Castle , which had been newly founded as a folk high school. The roots in the youth music movement remained , but new elements soon appeared ( improvisation , creative writing, etc.).

Sense and purpose

From the youth music movement comes the commitment to the importance of self-activity in the musical field: the individual art branches should only be able to open up to people personally through their own music-making, singing or dance experience. The program in the 1970s and 1980s thus stood in a certain contrast to the predominant music pedagogy in general schools, where the analytical element was supposed to dominate. In addition to doing it yourself, the courses of the Musische Gesellschaft are also always about bringing together the different, often separately perceived art branches. This is illustrated by way of example: the dancing gesture of some art music is only revealed to the musician once he has danced the underlying dances himself; vocal instrumental music can only be adequately reproduced by the musician if he himself has some singing experience improvisational gestures in some compositions can only be interpreted appropriately with one's own free improvisational experience.

Arts Education Foundation

The daily rates in suitable conference venues, which have increased significantly in recent years, make financial support for participants increasingly important. That is why the Arts Education Foundation was set up in 2002 . It also enables low-income or particularly financially stressed groups to take part in artistic courses and also provides funds for further training for speakers.
