The Musonda Falls on the Luongo River are 100 kilometers north of Mansa in the Luapula Province in Zambia in the Kawambwa District on the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

The water of the Luongo disappears after the falls in a hydroelectric power station. Then the river becomes a trickle. The falls can be reached from Kitwe in the Copperbelt via the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There is an air runway at the falls.

In this area the Dambo - merges into the Miombo forest . In front of the falls lie fertile floodplains in which sugar cane plantations of 3,000 to 4,000 hectares are planned, the water requirements of which would compete with electricity generation, since the need for irrigation is estimated at 40 million m³ annually.

The run-of-river power plant on the falls is located near Lusiwashi and has an output of 5 MW. Together with the power plant near Luzua (6 MW) on the Chishimba Falls , it supplies the north of Zambia with electricity. Shiva Lake and Kaphisha Hot Springs are nearby.
