Mutatio (Riom-Parsonz)
The Mutatio von Riom-Parsonz is the remains of a Roman horse changing station near Riom-Parsonz in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland .
First discoveries were made on site in 1973. Excavations took place in 1974/75 and 1980 to 1983. Various buildings came to light during these excavations. There was a 30 × 19 meter main building with a central courtyard and a cryptoporticus . In the latter there were still numerous remains of wall paintings. One room in the house had hypocausts . The bathhouse could only be partially excavated. It had hypocausts and was decorated with wall paintings. A small house consisted of just one room with an oven. In addition, there were remains of wooden buildings.
This horse changing station was on the Julier route , which was particularly steep and therefore additional servants, horses and mules were needed.
