Muumimuseo ( Finnish for Moomin Museum ), formerly known as Muumilaakso (Finnish for Moomin Valley ), is a museum in Tampere , Finland . Since 1987 it has been showing works of art relating to the Moomins , fictional creatures from the children's books by the Finnish-Swedish artist and author Tove Jansson .

The Muumimuseo is located in the Tampere Hall . His collection includes around 2000 pieces. These include original illustrations from the Moomin books by Tove Jansson, dioramas by artist Tuulikki Pietilä depicting scenes from the world of the Moomin, and a five-story Moomin house built by Tove Jansson, Tuulikki Pietilä and Pentti Eistola . The museum has a library with editions of Moomin books in various languages.

Until 2016, the museum was located on the ground floor of the Tampere Art Museum under the name Muumilaakso . It was temporarily closed in October 2016 and reopened on June 17, 2017 with a larger exhibition space and a more modern design.
