Sheikh Muwaffak tariff or Mowafaq tariff ( Arabic موفق طريف, DMG Muwaffaq Ṭarīf , Hebrew מוואפק טריף, * 1963 in Dschulis ) is currently Qādī (spiritual leader) of the Druze in Israel .

Life

Tariff came to Dschulis in 1963 (جولس, ג'וּלִס) to the world. Since 1753 his family has been the spiritual leaders of the Druze. In 1993 he inherited his office from his grandfather Amin Tarif .

In his political statements he is closely based on Israeli politics. In January 2004, he and the mayor of Shefar'am signed a declaration calling on non-Jewish citizens of Israel to respect the Noachide commandments .
