The Muzeum Farmacji im. mgr Antoniny Leśniewskiej (German: Antonina Leśniewska Pharmacy Museum) is located in the Old Town of Warsaw and is a department of the Museum of Warsaw . The museum is named after Antonina Leśniewska, a pioneer of the Polish women's movement and the country's first female pharmacist.

history

On the initiative of Tadeusz Kikta, the museum was founded on January 26, 1985 as a joint project of the Warsaw branch of the Polish Pharmacological Society (Polish: Polskiego Towarzystwa Farmaceutycznego ) and the pharmaceutical wholesaler "Cefarm" (Warsaw).

Initially, the museum's exhibition rooms were located at ulica Marszałkowska 72. In 1996, the move to the “Cefarm” headquarters in ulica Skierniewicka 16/20 took place. Since April 6, 2006, the institute has been located at ulica Piwna 31/33 in Warsaw's old town. In June 2002 the Warsaw Historical Museum (renamed Warsaw Museum in 2014) took over the management of the Pharmacy Museum. Iwona Arabas has been the museum's curator since 1996 .

exhibition

The most important exhibits are the furnishings of two pharmacies from Wołomin ( pharmacy No. 245 ) and Błonie ( city pharmacy ) from the interwar period. In addition, various original porcelain parts, glasses, crystal bottles and cardboard packaging of therapeutic substances are shown. The laboratory equipment of a pharmacy from Piaseczno from 1973 is also on display. Historical books and directories complete the collection. In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions and - especially for children - laboratory demonstrations are organized.
