Mwezi IV. Gisabo
Mwami Mwezi IV. Gisabo Bikata-Bijoga (* 1840 ; † August 21, 1908 ) was King of the Kingdom of Burundi from 1850 to 1908. He was the son and successor of Ntare IV. Rugamba .
During his reign, Burundi was colonized by the German Empire . An agreement in 1890 allowed Mwezi to remain as king, but he was supposed to recognize German rule. Mwezi survived a revolt by two leaders named Maconco and Birori, recognized by the Germans in 1903. This recognition was withdrawn in 1905 and the uprisings ended in 1906.
He was succeeded by Mutaga IV. Mbikije .
