My mine

My Mine is a three-piece Italian synth-pop band. With the single Hypnotic Tango , the three created a classic of the Italo Disco genre .

history

The band was formed in Bologna in 1983 . The project was produced by producer Mauro Malavasi , who, with his Clock Studio, is considered one of the most important pioneers of Italian pop music in the 1980s.

The well-known and extremely concise synthesizer bassline from Hypnotic Tango from 1984 (generated with a Roland TB-303 that plays an eighth rhythm over 3 octaves and is pulled into a sixteenth rhythm by a long "damped delay"), developed ten years after its publication a popular sample in techno . It was used by Carl Craig (in Rushed ) and Bandulu (in Amaranth: Love Lies Bleeding ), among others . In 2002 the German band Master Blaster landed another top ten hit with a cover version of the song. The English duo Bananarama made it into second place in the US dance charts in 2005 with Look On The Floor (Hypnotic Tango) .

For My Mine, however, it remained the only major success of their career. The successor single Zorro missed top chart positions and the 1985 debut album hardly sold.

At the end of 2015, My Mine was reactivated by Carlo Malatesta and Danilo Rosati. With singer Ilaria Melis and sound engineer Giovanni De Rosa, new songs were recorded in the Groove Studio in Terni from 2015 . Like a fool was released in 2016 and Love is in the sky in 2018. In 2018 an album 83-18 was planned.
