My Own Victim was an American hardcore punk band from Louisville , Kentucky that was founded in 1993 under the name Crawlspace and disbanded in 2004.

history

After the members had already played together in their youth in the band Human Remains, they renamed themselves Crawlspace in 1993. The Foothold demo followed , which allowed the group to gain a contract with Century Media . Before signing the contract, the band renamed themselves to My Own Victim. This was followed by the debut album Burning Inside in November 1995 . The band consisted of the singer Victor Hillerich, the guitarists Brian Omer and Jeff Toy, the bassist Todd Conn and the drummer Ivan Arnold. The publication was followed by a European tour with Mucky Pup . On the second album No Voice, No Rights, No Freedom , Brian Harris was the new drummer. Harris in turn was replaced shortly afterwards by Sean Fitzgibbons, whereupon the band went on tour through Europe in 1997 together with Biohazard . This was followed by the third album The Weapon . On the album, the band consisted of vocalist Victor Hillerich, guitarists Brian Omer and Jeff Toy, bassist Todd Conn and drummer Sean Fitzgibbons, with all but Fitzgibbons among the founding members. The publication was followed by a tour of the United States. However, due to financial problems, some concerts had to be canceled. Thereupon the band and Century Media separated. In addition, the line-up of the group changed, so that now David "Sailor" Bryant was represented as the new singer and Danny Murphy as the new drummer. The post of drummer should prove to be unstable in the further course: Johnny Wooldridge was added to replace Murphy, who in turn was to be replaced by Jeremy Mitchell. The band broke up in 2004. Since there had never been an official farewell concert, the band got together again in 2010 for a one-time farewell concert.

style

The band played hardcore punk on Burning Inside , with the group coming "in the second division after downset and biohazard". The Weapon also devoted itself to classic hardcore punk, with psychedelic sounds shining through in some songs .
