Mydealz ( spelling : mydealz ) is a social shopping community based in Berlin . The site is operated by 6Minutes Media GmbH, from which the travel portal Urlaubspiraten.de emerged. Mydealz consists of different areas: In addition to editorial content, the website is fed by a forum in which, according to the company, almost 500 offers and over 5000 comments are posted daily. Mydealz is thus the largest social community for online and offline shopping in Germany.

history

Mydealz was founded on April 28, 2007 as a blog by Fabian Spielberger in Gerbrunn . With an increasing number of users and regular content, the portal developed into its own brand, from which 6Minutes Media GmbH was founded in 2009. In 2014 Mydealz won both prizes in the shopping category in the website of the year election , and in 2015 the prize for best website in the same category . In the same year Mydealz became a founding member of the Pepper.com group, which operates social commerce portals in eleven countries.

concept

The site is a mix of editorial and user-based recommendations. The bargains presented include discount campaigns, special offers, price errors and coupons. These offers can be rated by registered users, which results in a ranking for the offers themselves. The user-based part of Mydealz emerged from a cooperation with Hotukdeals.com and based on this it was sometimes also known as HUKD and is still called that by many users.

Media coverage

  • In March 2013, Mydealz announced that a Groupon database had been hacked and spam emails had been sent to registered Groupon users.
  • In November 2014, Mydealz was reported in connection with the hashtag # 3f2Leak. A Mydealz user had published a Saturn offer before the official announcement. The company Saturn responded by posting a video on Facebook , ironically calling for the leaker to be caught.

Market position and ranking

On February 6, 2015, Alexa listed the website as the 86th most visited website in Germany. In the spring of 2016, Mydealz counted around 22.5 million unique visits per month and reached 1.5 million visitors per day on events such as Black Friday . In April 2019, Mydealz reached over 50.9 million contacts with consumers every month via its own website, app and social media .
