features

The species is about 20 to 50 cm tall and does not form runners. It differs from the similar Myosotis scorpioides by its round stem. This is also hairy close-fitting. The wraps are usually 1 to 2 leafed at the base. The sky-blue flowers are about 3 to 6 mm in diameter. The 0.6 to 0.9 mm long anthers always form anthers.

The flowering period is between May and August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22, 44 or 88.

Occurrence

The lawn forget-me-not colonizes alternately moist to wet banks of water. The lime-shy species can also tolerate a slight salt content in the soil. It also occurs in reed communities , on wet meadows and in swamp forests. While the circumpolar species occurs more frequently in northern Germany, it is rarer in southern Germany. In Central Europe it is a character species of the Phalaridetum arundinaceae from the Magnacaricion association, but also occurs in other societies of the order Phragmitetalia.

The lawn forget-me-not is widespread in Eurasia, North America, North Africa, and Chile.
