The spring tooth grid ( Odontites vernus ) is a plant species from the genus of tooth grid and is also widespread in Central Europe.
features
The species only blooms in May and June and differs from Odontites vulgaris by its acute-angled branches. The 1 to 4 pairs of branches take an angle of 20 ° to 40 °. The leaves of the spring tooth rust are pointed, not fleshy and longer than the flowers. At the end of the flowering period, the stylus protrudes from the crown.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 40.
distribution
The plant is mostly found in fields and in short-lived weed meadows. In terms of plant sociology, it can be seen as a characteristic of the Aperion spica-venti association. But it also occurs in societies of the Caucalidion lappulae association. The species, which is widespread across Europe, is rare in Germany. In some federal states it is on the red list. Their distribution area includes Southern Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Turkey, Armenia and Iran.
