The Myriad Islands ( English for Myriad islands ; named in Chile as Islotes Jorquera ) are a group of scattered small islands and rocks off the west coast of the Antarctic Graham Land . They are 8 km west of the Dannebrog and Vedel Islands in the Wilhelm Archipelago .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill, mapped the islands. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1959 based on their large number. The name, which has been valid in Chile since 1962, is named after Pedro Jorquera Goicolea, captain of the research vessel Leucotón on the Sixth Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1951–1952).
