Myrick Davies

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Myrick Davies († 1781 ) was an American politician ( Whig ).

His predecessor was Stephen Heard . Davies was governor of Georgia from 1780 to 1781. After his death in 1781, Nathan Brownson became governor. Almost nothing is known about Davies' life. He is not listed in the National Governor Association of the United States and there is no bibliographic entry in the New Georgia Encyclopedia, which only reports that Davies was President of the so-called Executive Council in 1780, replacing Governor Heard, who was in charge at the time the British had fled to Carolina. It is also mentioned that he was murdered. The Burke County's Chronicle notes that British loyalists murdered several American patriots, Davies among them, in the summer of 1781.
