Nélida Gómez de Navajas

Nélida Gómez de Navajas (born July 23, 1927 in Buenos Aires , † May 2, 2012 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine human rights activist.

She was one of the founders of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo (Mothers of the Square of the May Revolution). The background to this was the kidnapping of her pregnant daughter Cristina on July 13, 1976. Gómez 'husband Julio Santucho, who was in Italy at the time of the kidnapping, was a member of the Argentine Revolutionary Workers Party (Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores, PRT) .

She was Vice President of the Instituto Multimedia DerHumALC , the organizer of the Festival Internacional de Cine de Derechos Humanos .
