The northern lemur lemur ( Phaner electromontis ) is a primate species from the lemur group .

Northern lamella lemurs are among the larger representatives of the lamella lemurs . Their fur is colored silver-gray, along their backs a wide, clearly visible line of eel extends to the base of their tail. The face pattern typical of the fork-striped lemur - two black stripes that extend from the top of the head over the eyes to the snout - is particularly clear in this species.

Distribution area (red) of the northern lemur in Madagascar

Northern lemurs, like all lemurs, only occur on the island of Madagascar . Their distribution area exclusively includes the Montagne d'Ambre region at the northern tip of this island, their habitat are rain and dry forests, they are distributed up to 1500 meters above sea level.

Little is known about the way of life of these animals, presumably it corresponds to that of the other lemurs. As a result, they are nocturnal and feed mainly on tree sap, but also on other plant material and insects.

Due to the small distribution area, which is also affected by mining, the IUCN lists the species as "endangered" ( vulnerable ).
