The Nøkkelholmane (literally translated from Norwegian as Key Islands ) are a scattered group of around 24 islands off the Prince Harald coast of Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . They are located directly in front of the west side of the Skarvsnes peninsula in the eastern part of the Lützow-Holm-Bucht .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named them, mapped them using aerial photographs of the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 .
