Runestone U 943

The rune stone U 943 in Uppsala in Uppland in Sweden, which is very badly damaged in the edge area, is not signed. It was found during the restoration of the Archbishop's house, about 100 meters from its current location.

The decorations on the stone consist of a remnant of a serpentine ribbon on the outer edge of the stone front. In the middle there is a large Christian cross . Large pieces of rune text are eliminated on the left and right sides of the stone. The rune stone made of red sandstone is about 2.0 m high, 0.8 m wide and is dated to the 11th century.

The inscription reads: Björn and ... the stone for ... spirit.

Due to the incomplete inscription, it remains unclear who erected the stone next to Björn and who is honored with the stone.

The stone is located behind the Gustavianum in the Universitetsparken (University Park) along with other rune stones, a modern rune stone and a concrete copy of a Bronze Age ship carving .
