NARAL Pro-Choice America

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

NARAL Pro-Choice America is a political association in the United States whose main goal is to provide freer access to abortion surgery and to improve the decision-making skills of pregnant women and girls ( Pro-Choice ).

The group was founded in 1968 by Bernard Nathanson , Larry Lader, and Betty Friedan as the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws . Nathanson later left the group and became a committed anti-abortionist. This was followed by two renaming ( National Abortion Rights Action League and a little later National Abortion & Reproductive Rights Action League ) as a result of the Roe v. Wade (1973). The right to an abortion by the Supreme Court of the United States was derived directly from the right to privacy. The name was abandoned in 2003 in favor of the shorter one. In 2004 she was one of the sponsors of the March for Women's Lives .

List of chairmen

Late in the code of the campaign for the US presidency NARAL issued a recommendation to vote for Barack Obama . Like the whole pro-choice movement, NARAL was split on this issue. The decision was also controversial internally. Only the rejection of John McCain's positions was agreed.
