Moderators

When the Huntley-Brinkley Report was renamed NBC Nightly News in 1970 , the first presenters were John Chancellor , David Brinkley, and Frank McGee . In 1971 McGee left the show because he took over The Today Show and so Chancellor and Brinkley formed the moderation team until 1982. After that, it was hosted by Tom Brokaw until 2004 . She then moderated Brian Williams until his suspension. Lester Holt took over the moderation from him , initially on an interim basis.
