Nippon Tokushu Tōgyō KK ( Japanese 日本 特殊 陶 業 株式会社 , Nippon Tokushu Tōgyō kabushiki kaisha ; English NGK Spark Plug Co., Ltd. ) is a Japanese manufacturer of spark plugs , glow plugs (also for diesel engines), ignition coils , lambda sensors and exhaust gas temperature sensors . The company is regarded as the world market leader in the original equipment of new cars and motorcycles. The company originally specialized in ceramic production with headquarters in Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture and branches all over the world began producing the first types of spark plugs in the 1930s.

NGK Spark Plug employs (as of 2007) around 12,000 people worldwide in eleven factories, eight sales centers and 14 sales branches. In 1975 NGK set up its first European branch in England. Offices in several European countries followed. In 1979 NGK Spark Plug Deutschland GmbH was founded with headquarters in Ratingen near Düsseldorf. Ten years later, the German subsidiary took over the European business under the name NGK Spark Plug Europe GmbH. In the 1990s, NGK Spark Plug Europe GmbH set up a technical center with engine and roller test benches for product testing and to support automobile manufacturers in Europe.

Products

NGK offers the following product groups: spark plugs, glow plugs, lambda probes, ignition cables, ignition coils, spark plug connectors for motorcycles, technical ceramics, cutting tools, knock sensors and temperature sensors .

logistics

NGK Spark Plug Europe has been operating a logistics center for specialist retailers in Ratingen since 2000 . 25 million spark plugs, glow plugs and lambda sensors are stored in an area of ​​6,000 square meters. European automobile manufacturers are supplied from another warehouse.
