When the Dunderlandsbane was officially taken over by the Norges Statsbane (NSB), the state railway company in Norway, on June 1, 1947 , the locomotives were added to their inventory.

Use at Dunderlandsbanen

The DIOC operated an island network from its ore mines in the Rana area to the port of Gullsmedvik near Mo i Rana as early as 1902 . With the construction of the Nordlandsbane in 1942, the Dunderlandsbane was connected to the NSB network. The Dunderlandsbane railway line was integrated into the Nordlandsbane.

Used by Norges Statsbaner

The takeover of the Dunderlandsbane by NSB took place officially on June 1, 1947. On April 27, 1948, the locomotives of the Dunderlandsbane were integrated into the NSB's numbering plan. The two locomotives DIOC A3 and A4 were assigned to the NSB Type 54a series . Locomotive 54a 492 (the original DIOC A3 ) was the last of the series to be decommissioned on November 5, 1957 and scrapped.
