Naïma Azough (born April 1, 1972 in Asdif , Morocco ) is a Dutch politician of Moroccan descent; from March 16, 2004 to June 17, 2010 she was a member of the Second Chamber in the faction of the GroenLinks party .

Azough is originally from Morocco and came to the Netherlands through family reunification at the age of three. The daughter of a metalworker grew up in Rotterdam- Zuid. She studied English and German at the University of Antwerp ; While studying in Antwerp , Azough was active in the committee against the Belgian right-wing party Vlaams Blok (Flemish Bloc). She then studied international relations at the University of Amsterdam , but did not complete the course.

She worked as a freelance programmer, among others at the political-cultural center De Balie and at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam. She also worked as an editor for the meeting point program of the former Muslim radio broadcaster Nederlandse Moslim Omroep , as an editor for the radio program De Andere Wereld on IKON ( Interkerkelijke Omroep Nederland ) and as a member of the GroenLinks magazine. In 1999 the rising politician published two books: “Het patatpantheon: de groepscultuur van een nieuwe generatie” (as editor) and “Moroccans, landgenoten: drie generaties Moroccans in Nederland” . Then she worked as an employee for the project “Rotterdam - European Capital of Culture 2001”.

Azough is a Muslim and also sees herself as liberal and feminist . She was director of the Mama Cash women's development fund and the Prince Bernhard Cultural Fund ( Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds ).
