Na'akueto La'ab
Na'akueto La'ab ( Ethiop . ነዓኩቶ ለአብ) was Negus Negest ( Emperor ) of Ethiopia and a member of the Zagwe dynasty . According to Taddesse Tamrat , he was the son of Kedus Harbe .
Tradition tells of how Queen Maskal Kibra convinced her husband, King Lalibela , to cede in favor of Na'akueto La'ab. However, when the young king's soldiers confiscated a poor farmer's only cow for a banquet 18 months later, she persuaded Lalibela to return to the throne. Taddesse Tamrat suspects that the end of Lalibela's rule did not actually take place so peacefully. He argues that this tradition is supposed to obscure a short period in history when Na'akueto La'ab was the focal point for the discontented in the country and in which, despite strict guard, he managed to usurp the throne for a short time until eventually Yetbarak ascended his father's throne.
