The specialist training for telecommunications technology wired telecommunications lines (NTD) was a specialization of the GDR training occupation as a skilled worker for communications technology . The apprentices in this direction became telecommunications fitters at Deutsche Post .

The training lasted 2.5 years, if the Abitur was obtained at the same time , three years. Within the three years the subject matter for the skilled worker certificate and for the Abitur was mastered. The training with the Abitur was only offered at the company school of the district office of Deutsche Post Neubrandenburg .

The later Federal Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee acquired his professional qualification as a skilled worker for communications technology in 1974.
