Night violet polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The night violet polka is a polka mazurka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 170). The work was first performed on July 1, 1855 in Ungers Casino in Vienna .

Remarks

With its somewhat melancholy music, this polka mazurka is a clear contrast to the composer's usually cheerful waltzes . Later it was somewhat forgotten and was only rarely performed, if at all. This was also due to the fact that the composer's many compositions sometimes displaced each other from the concert schedule. There was simply an oversupply of such works.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 3 minutes and 55 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
