The Naess Glacier is a small glacier on the Rymill coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows west to George VI Sound . A rocky mountain ridge separates it from the Chapman Glacier to the north .
The first measurements of the glacier were made in 1936 by participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer John Rymill . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1954 after the Norwegian Erling Dekke Næss (1901-1993) from the Vestfold Whaling Company , who had extensively supported the British Graham Land Expedition.
