Nagaarum is a metal and rock band founded in 2011 .

history

The Nagaarum project was founded in 2011 as the successor to the Pigballoon project, which has been active since 2008. The only member Gábor “Nagaarum” Tóth decided to change the name because he wanted to use occult elements in the songwriting , whereby the name Pigballoon lost its right to exist in his eyes. Initially, the drummer Tóth planned to expand the project into a band with several musicians, but decided against it after a knee disease that forced him to change instruments and learn to play bass while remaining in the band GuilThee . Since then he has played all the instruments, he also takes over most of the singing and the design of the sound carriers and music videos . Since Lombotómia , however, he has occasionally used guest singers. Nagaarum has released several albums annually since 2011. While the early releases were only available for download via Bandcamp and the NGC Prod label , in which Tóth is involved, the project has been cooperating with independent labels such as GS Productions , Endless Winter and Aesthetic Death Records since 2013 . Compared to previous releases, Apple's concept album, released in 2018 through Aesthetic Death, received increased attention. The reviews were mediocre to positive.

style

Nagaarum's music cannot be limited to individual genres. The style varies from ambient and post-rock to doom and black metal . The first publications of the project were mainly based on the dark ambient . Later albums often combined this style with elements of black metal, post metal , psychedelic rock and funeral doom . Some albums, on the other hand, assigned themselves completely to one genre, for example Nagaarum produced albums with Pulzár and Gleccserek that were exclusively dedicated to dark ambient ( Pulzár ) or psychedelic rock ( Gleccserek ).
