Naghsh-e-Jahan Stadium ( Persian استاديوم نقش جهان Estadium-e Naqsch-e Dschahan ) is a multifunctional stadium in Isfahan Province in Iran . It is currently mainly used as a football stadium. The stadium holds around 75,000 people and was built in 2003 as a three-story facility. It isthe second largest stadium in Iranafter the Azadi Stadium .
It was officially opened by the then first Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref on the occasion of the anniversary of the Islamic revolution (February 11, 1979).
The home games of Sepahan Isfahan , who plays in the first Iranian football league , took place in the Naghsh-e-Jahan Stadium until 2007 and since the renovation from 2013 .
From 2007 to 2013, extensive renovations were carried out to expand the capacity from 45,000 to 75,000 visitors. In June 2007, in addition to general repairs, new seats were installed and a large screen attached. The cost was 600 million rials .
