Nakamura Mitsuo ( Japanese. 中 村 光 夫 , real name: Koba Ichirō ( 木 庭 一郎 ); born February 5, 1911 in Tokyo Prefecture ; † July 12, 1988 ) was a Japanese writer and literary critic.

Life

While still a student, Nakamura published reviews in the magazine Bungakukai ( 文学界 , "The literary world") and attracted attention with a study on the writer Futabatei Shimei . For this he received the Iketani Shinzaburō Prize in 1936 . He subsequently published more work on Japanese and Western authors. In 1938 he was invited by the French government to study abroad, which he had to break off with the beginning of the Second World War.

In writings after the Second World War, Nakamura dealt critically with modern Japanese literature, in particular with the genre of the so-called first- person novels ( Watakushi shōsetsu ) and the Fūzoku novels, which dealt with modern urban life. He has also published several plays and novels.
