Nakanoshima Kin'ichi

Nakanoshima Kin'ichi ( Japanese 中 能 島 欣 一 ; * December 16, 1904 , † March 19, 1984 ) was a Japanese composer .

He taught as a professor at the Tokyo Art University and was a member of the national art academy. He is particularly known as a virtuoso on the koto , sankyoku and shakuhachi . He began composing in the 1930s and created a large number of works for these instruments. He was honored with two awards from the Japanese Ministry of Art and in 1983 was named Bunka Kōrōsha, a person with special cultural merit .
